Director's Corner
Kayla Lightsey serves as the owner and artistic director for Judy Rochelle School of Dance. She has had the pleasure of serving in creative capacities in studios across the state but is proud that her first ownership experience is in her hometown of Childersburg. She is married to high school sweetheart Colt Lightsey and is the mother of three amazing children (Cale (angel), (Cruz (4), Calli Ann (1). Kayla is a graduate of Auburn University with a bachelors degree in Secondary Education. She is a recent graduate of Jacksonville State University where she received a Masters degree in Instructional Leadership and Administration. Kayla has been dancing most of her life, spending 13 years as a student under the instruction of Judy Rochelle. She has had the opportunity to compete as part of dance circuits across the southeast. Kayla served as office manager and dance instructor for Auburn School of Dance and Performing Arts for 2 years. Following her transition into the classroom, she served as Head Coach for the Alexander City Middle School Wildcat Danceteam. Kayla was voted, "Coach of the Year," by the Universal Dance Association (UDA) two consecutive years while serving in this capacity. This is her 9th year serving students and teachers as an educator. Kayla's current role is that of a "Technology Integration Specialist and Coaching Fellow," for Childersburg Middle School.
